Burning Reel are delighted to announce the arrival of a new director to their roster... the multi-talented Christopher Sims, primarily known just as 'Sims'. A hands-on film-maker, he's often his own camera op and editor; and he creates award-winning music videos at such a prolific rate that his promos have racked up over a billion views. No wonder Burning Reel are so pleased to have him on board.
Wow... over a billion views for his promos... he must be pretty chuffed with himself. He could be forgiven for that but judging from his continued work rate we suspect he isn't planning to sit back smugly on his laurels and contemplate his navel any time soon.
So who has he made these phenomenally successful promos for? Everyone from platinum-selling artists like Usher, Ludacris and Stone Temple Pilots to emerging stars like A Great Big World, and Cassie. In fact, he's made another winner just now for DJ/producer duo Sigma, starring Millie Bobby Brown from 'Stranger Things'.
Fantastic. Her performance goes all the way up to Eleven. I see what you did there. Don't do it again.
Sorry. What's Sims' back story, anyway - how did he reach these glittering heights? He grew up in the era of skate punk with outfits like Blink-182 and FIDLAR; and after discovering photography at high school he started touring with bands on the So-Cal hardcore scene. Sims assembled music videos and documentaries out of the sheer volume of raw footage he shot, and the edgy energy that emerged propelled him into his commercial career.
And what is he doing when he's not making promos? He's currently in development on a multitude of projects - documentary features, unscripted mini-series, an undergarment fashion brand and a digital episodic basketball docu-series for new media platform The Player's Tribune.
Stylish stuff. Okay - let's have another glimpse of the stellar celebrities he's worked with. Here's an ad for Beats by Dre featuring Serena Williams. Pretty damn cool, eh? Wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of that flame thrower.
If you're in need of a director who isn't fazed by the dazzle of demi-gods, Sims is your man. Call Burning Reel for more info on 020 7323 0403, and in the meantime acquaint yourself with further shining examples of Sims's work here.
