Bang TV sign US director Rudi Schwab.

by Jason Stone

Bang TV are extremely excited to have added Rudi Schwab to their roster. The company has forged a reputation for filming to notch car work but their new acquisition marches to the beat of an entirely different drum.

As you'll notice when you watch the films we've included below, Schwab has a real flair for creating short, perfectly-formed slices of life with real emotional punch.

Schwab picked up a pride of Lions at this year's Cannes Festival of Creativity with his Gillette film alone collecting three Golds and two Silvers and a Bronze. It's a masterful piece of work, offering a lovely insight into filial devotion as we witness a special bond between three generations of men. And even though it's a perfectly composed piece of sentimentality calibrated to melt the iciest of hearts, its authenticity prevents it from leaving a saccharine taste behind.

In his TVC for Hewlett Packard, Schwab demonstrates an ability to draw just as much emotion when working with actors. It's a slightly familiar story of an underappreciated parent discovering that the care and love he lavishes on his apparently indifferent daughter is being noticed more than he imagines.

I couldn’t be happier with the signing. He’s going to be huge.

The skill in this lies in the how pleased rather than surprised the viewer feels at the reveal. This invaluable quality has audiences welcoming a commercial on to their screens each time it appears.

This treasured quality is also found in a 2015 commercial for Google Chrome which follows the progress of a young woman about to meet her in-laws for the first time. Aware that they might be wary of their son dating a woman from outside his culture, she goes to extraordinary lengths to put them at ease. This is a delicate story and if it was told badly, it could easily have caused offence but Schwab imbues it with an innocence which enables it to dodge any sense of cultural appropriation.

Rudi Schwab's arrival at Bang TV's continues a broadening of the company's offer and provides the UK market with a director with real emotional heft.

Jeremy McWilliams of Bang TV: "We got together in the purest way imaginable. I saw his work and just got in touch with him to say how much I loved it.

"We clicked immediately and in no time he had joined. I couldn’t be happier with the signing. He’s going to be huge."
